LIGHTS OF LOVE

Our Annual Lights of Love is here again.  Anyone is invited to donate a light to "remember, honor, thank or celebrate a friend, loved one, dear one who passed away, a new baby, or anyone who has made your life a little easier.  Each $10 light is tax deductible. Donors who give $50 or more will receive an Auxiliary 100th Anniversary Ornament, featuring the Rotunda in a circle of gold.  Lights of Love brochures are available in  Volunteer Services Office.

All funds raised will go to help create the Positive Image Boutique in the UVa Emily Couric Critical Care Cancer Center. 

The Tree Lighting will take place on Sunday, December 6 at 2:30 PM in the Hospital Lobby.  Holiday music will be provided by Lorrie Seitz, Anna Dietrich Covington, Doug Schneider and the Virginia Consort Prelude Choir.  We hear that SANTA will be visiting.  Cookies and Cider will be served.

                       ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Auxiliary will facilitate a CPR class for volunteers, to be provided by the Medical Center's Life Support Learning Center.   The FREE class will be held if there are enough volunteers interested in signing up for it.  The date has not been set and will be set only if there is enough interest.  Please call 434-924-5251 to sign up.  Note: You need to be physically able to get down on the floor to learn the technique (although we may be able to offer a tabletop session also).

Seasonal Flu Shots are available for volunteers FREE at Employee Health.

ORNAMENTS OF CHRISTMAS PAST

During our Auxiliary Holiday Vendor Sale, December 1-4, the Hospital Auxiliary will have it's first Ornaments of Christmas Past, a creative idea of Lynda Dunn.  Please donate your gently used ornaments, wreaths, garlands, and centerpieces that are in good condition.  The proceeds from the sale will help fund the UVa Auxiliary Healthcare Scholarships. A collection box is in the Volunteer Services Office.
 
Volunteers are needed Tuesday, Dec 1 - Friday, Dec 4 to sell these decorations during this first Annual Ornaments of Christmas Past  Please call Volunteer Services if you will be able to help, 434-924-5251.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO DONATE

Hotel toiletries are in need.  If you pick up miniature toiletries while traveling, you can bring them to the Volunteer Office. 

We need clean, clear small vases or small glass jars

suitable to provide free flowers for patients.The bottles need to be washed and free of labels.  No quart sized jars, just small glass bottles.  Please bring them to the Volunteer Office.
We would greatly appreciate donations of:  light subject-paperback books & magazines published within the last six months.
FALL CLEANING? WHY NOT DONATE YOUR VALUABLE ITEMS TO THE AUXILIARY at the ETERNAL ATTIC?
The Auxiliary Board set up an account with the Eternal Attic, a upscale consignment shop. Volunteers can donate fine china, crystal, antiques or decorative items.  There are several conditions to items accepted for sale.  You can email to ask for specifics at eternalattic@embarqmail.com.
Proceeds from the sale will become a tax deductible contribution to the Auxiliary.  The Eternal Attic is located next to Foods of All Nations in the Ivy Road Shopping Center at 2123 and 2125 Ivy Road.  434-977-8080 or 434-977-2667
