UVA ChildCare Program
The Center is fully licensed and located on Estes Street, a five minute walk from the hospital. Children six (6) weeks to kindergarten age are served year round, and in addition, during summer months, a school-age day camp is offered. Soon to be accredited with the National Association for the Education of Young Children, our center reflects in every way, the model of developmentally appropriate practice for young children.
The environment is nurturing and stimulates learning.
We believe in mixed age grouping and practice with children ages three and up. Children are transitioned from group to group as they are developmentally ready. Our groups are divided as follows:
Young Infants (until mobile)
- Transition (roughly 9 to 17 months)
- Toddler (18 to 24 months)
- Twos (2 to 3 years)
- Preschool Transition (3-almost 4 years)
- Preschool (almost 4 years - 5 years)
The curriculum allows for a good balance of indoor and outdoor play, as well as quiet and active times.
