All members in the UVA MRC are asked to complete two online training modules and to participate in a hands on training module on Basic Disaster Skills.  The online training modules are listed below.

  • The Basic Disaster Skills training module developed by Dr. Mark Kirk and implemented into the UVA School of Medicine curriculum and used for training MRC members will be soon added to the website.  This  

UVAMRC Poster Presentation: National Conference 2008

  • Leaders from the UVAMRC presented a poster at the National Conference, held in Portland Oregon, on April 8th - 11th. PDF version will be posted soon.
New Legislation
  • This is a discussion draft in the Senate of a Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act that proposes to move the Medical Reserve Corps out from the Office of the Surgeon General.  This bill proposes that the MRC be housed under the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response in the Department of Health and Human Services.  Read the discussion draft here.  If you have any questions about a section of the bill, please let us know and we will do our best to clarify.  If you have an opinion about the proposed bill, please contact your representative in the Senate or the House of Representatives and let them know what you think.

Guide for Hospital Preparedness and Response

  • A Guide for Hospital Preparedness & Response is now posted on the VHHA-MCI.org website. The Guide was referenced by HRSA along with the FY2005 Hospital Preparedness Program grant continuation guidance, and formed the basis for some of the program standards for achievement (or benchmarks).
  • An executive summary of the Guide, in the form of a news release by the ASTM International Committee on Homeland Security, is attached below.
