Clinical Connections: Disaster Preparedness Day, June 2005 |
Volunteers from the UVAMRC participated in Disaster Preparedness Day as part of Clinical Connections, which is a mandatory full-day seminar for all 3rd year medical students at the University of Virginia. Medical students learned about various concepts dealing with disaster medicine, and were exposed to a series of hands-on workshops that utilized members of the UVAMRC. Pictured below are some of these sessions, including:
"Initial Assessment and Prioritization of Vicitims" (Brian Kipe in center, seated as vicitm)
"Dealing with the Media: Risk Communication" (Mark Fitzgerald, on left as cameraman)
"Patient Transportation Basics"
"Field Assessment and Backboarding"
"Personal Protective Equipment"
