Deputy Faculty Director/Advisor
Dr. Kirk serves as the Deputy Faculty Advisor of the UVAMRC and is faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine/Toxicology and is the Director of the Blue Ridge Poison Center. He works closly with Operations Division, helping the student leadership develop training guidelines and educational programs in Disaster Medicine. Dr. Kirk has previously participated in a task force sponsored by the Office of Emergency Preparedness, US Department of Health and Human Services, where objectives, content, and competencies for training emergency medical technicians, physicians, and nurses to care for casualties resulting from nuclear, biological or chemical incidents were developed. In addition he currently participates on a consensus panel for development of prehospital and hospital treatment of weapons of mass destruction, also sponsored by the Office of Emergency Preparedness.
