UVa Walk-For-Kids Team Information

Captain's Resposibilities

  1. Distribute brochures/pledge forms to your team members.  You must have 10 walkers to be a team.
  2. Read Recruiting Tips and Fundraising Tips and make a plan for your team.
  3. Recruit team members and collect LOTS of pledges for the UVa Children's Hospital!
  4. Inform your team members that they must arrive at the Walk, June 3rd, between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. for team check-in.  Team photos will follow. 
  5. Have FUN!!!

Race Day Procedures

  • Registration begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 3.   All team members must arrive in time for the team to be checked in by 8:30 a.m.
  • Each team member approaches the registration table, tells us what team they are on, and receives a t-shirt, hand stamp for the picnic, and a door prize raffle ticket.
  • You will be directed to the Team Photo location.
  • Join us for the warm up and then start hoofin’ it.

Post-Race Fun

  • There will be prizes for the:  biggest team, team that raises the most money, individual who raises the most money, child who raises the most money, and pet who raises the most money. Plus, any individual who raises more than $250 in pledges will get goodies as well.
  • Every team will receive a plaque of recognition.

Our Office Location: 
We are located on the 3rd floor of the Blake Center, 1224 Jefferson Park Avenue (JPA) at the corner of JPA and W Main St. Parking for our building is reached by turning left off of W Main Street onto JPA at the stop light (right if you’re coming from the west, left if you’re coming from the east.) Take an immediate left after turning onto JPA (between two brick buildings). The Blake Center is on your left as you come up the hill.
