UVA Children's Hospital Events

At University of Virginia Children's Hospital, children and their families are special. They receive special care in a warm, friendly environment designed especially for them. UVA Children's Hospital offers total healthcare - everything from well-baby visits to heart transplants - and conducts breakthrough research in childhood diseases.

We encourage you to become involved. Here are some ways you can become a part of our team.

UVA Children's Hospital Telethon. Save the date for the 2008 Telethon! Saturday, May 31, from 8-11:30 pm and Sunday, June 1, from 10 am - 6:30 pm, broadcast live on Charlottesville's WVIR-NBC 29.  The Telethon is broadcast from the 7th floor of the UVA Medical Center.  The public (including healthy children) is invited to attend. Each year, the UVA Children's Hospital Telethon marks the culmination of generous annual giving by area businesses and friends.

UVA Children's Hospital's Walk for Kids, hosted by Klöckner Pentaplast, is a flat 3 mile walk that is family- and pet-friendly. All money raised stays here in the community to help area children and their families. If you can take a thousand small steps, we can take a few giant ones.  The Walk for Kids is set to take place at 9 am on Saturday, May 31, 2008.  Location to be determined.

Motorcycle Raffle to Benefit University of Virginia Children's Hospital.   When BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E-STREET BAND perform in Charlottesville on Wednesday, April 30, they will also help sick children at UVA Children's Hospital.  "The Boss" and his band will autograph a new 2008 Harley-Davidson Cross Bones motorcycle for a raffle sponsored by Log a Load for Kids.  The winning ticket will be drawn on Saturday, August 16 at 3 p.m., in Charlottesville's McIntire Park.

Tickets for the raffle cost $100.  They can be purchased at the UVA Children's Hospital Development Office and the Shenandoah Harley-Davidson store in Staunton, Virginia.  Other locations will be announced.
