Mycoplasma Testing
- $50.00 per assay
- Requires 2 to 5 mls of conditioned culture media or a small growing culture
- Must be at least 2 passages removed from antibiotic/antimycotic use
- Please bring sample in a 15 ml centrifuge tube labeled with the following: Investigator's name, phone number, name of cell line being tested. Please use a marker that will not wash off in alcohol.
- Tests are set up Monday and Thursday, with results available Friday and Monday. Please bring samples no later than 10:30 am Monday or Thursday. Samples dropped off after 10:30 will be held until the next testing day.
- Please do not refrigerate or freeze samples. This can cause problems with the assay. Store samples in the incubator.
- The test is an assay for mycoplasma driven conversion of 6-methylpurine deoxyribose to 6-methylpurine and 6-methylpurine riboside, both of which are toxic to mammalian cells.
