SURGERY RESEARCH
Our Lab conducts surgical research on various animal models of lung transplantation, lung ischemia-reperfusion injury, spinal cord injury, cardiopulmonary bypass and compensatory lung growth. This surgical research provides valuable surgical training to Residents. One of the favorite surgical models among residents is the left lung transplant in swine (see some pics below). We have a dedicated animal operataing room in the Vivarium of our building with support from our vetrinarians and excellent technical personnel.
