Resident Research Day
Each spring we have Resident Research Day which is a day where residents and postdocs in the Department of Surgery can show off their research efforts. Here, residents and postdocs formally present their research projects in the form of oral and poster presentations. A different Visiting Professor participates in Resident Research Day each year.
All Surgery Residents, Post-docs, and Medical Students are invited to submit abstracts. All Faculty and Residents in the Dept. of Surgery are expected to attend, and we also get good attendance from other departments, other lab personnel as well as medical students.
Twelve abstracts from Surgery Residents are chosen for oral presentation and competition. The remaining abstracts are entered in the poster competition. Judges are comprised of faculty members and the Visiting Professor. Monetary prizes are awarded to the top three oral and poster presentations.
The 2009 Resident Research Day was held on April 21, 2009, and the Visiting Professor was Dr. Ronald V. Maier, Professor of Trauma Surgery and Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery, University of Washington.
