Welcome to the TCV Surgery Research Lab at the University of Virginia Health System, Department of Surgery.
Our lab is very dynamic and comprised of a
diverse team of researchers dedicated to the advancement
of research pertaining to cardiothoracic surgery and related areas.
We are also dedicated to the laboratory training of Surgery Residents,
PostDocs, and Students.
Our areas of research include mechanisms of lung ischemia-reperfusion
injury, compensatory lung regeneration, spinal cord injury,
cardiopulmonary bypass-induced injury, and aortic aneurysm formation.
We utilize many techniques in the lab including molecular & cell
biology, small animal surgery, cell culture, small animal imaging, and
microscopic techniques. Our team of researchers tackle both clinical
and basic science research projects in our efforts to contribute to the
knowledge behind these processes.
