Welcome to the TCV Surgery Research laboratories. We are a diverse team of researchers dedicated to the advancement of cardiothoracic surgery research and the laboratory training of Residents, PostDocs, and Students. Our areas of research include mechanisms of lung ischemia-reperfusion injury, lung rejection, aortic aneurysm formation, compensatory lung regeneration, and cardiopulmonary bypass-induced injury. We utilize many techniques in the lab including molecular & cell biology, small and large animal surgery, cell culture, small animal imaging, and microscopic techniques. Our team of researchers tackle both clinical and basic science research projects in our efforts to contribute to the knowledge behind these processes. The UVA Medical Alum News recently wrote a short article about our laboratory training and translational research. [Click here to see the article] |
