The laparoscopic instructorship at The University of Virginia is a 12month position available to applicants that are BC/BE in General Surgery. The position is a faculty appointment to the academic rank of Instructor of Surgery and is so compensated.
During the year, the instructor will have both clinical, research, and educational responsibilities that can be tailored to meet his/her and the center's mutual interests. Clinical responsibilities will include: participating in & staffing advanced laparoscopic cases (gastric bypass, hernias, adrenals, foregut surgery, colon and rectal surgery, splenectomies, donor nephrectomies, & complex hepatobiliary), proctoring & educating residents, faculty & personal weekly clinics, and participating in the 'on call' general surgery rotation.
