Winsor D. Simmons, R.N., BSN
Clinical Research Coordinator

Winsor received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia in 1999.  She initially worked as a staff nurse on the Medical Surgical Acute Care Unit at the UVa Health System.  In August of 2001, Winsor accepted a position with the University's Charles O. Strickler Transplant Program as a transplant coordinator for kidney and pancreas transplant recipients.  She received her Clinical Transplant Coordinator Certification and advanced to the role of Lead Kidney/Pancreas Coordinator.  Winsor's role expanded to the clinical islet cell transplant research coordinator which allowed her to develop clinical trial and regulatory experience and fostered her interest in academic research. 

In August 2006 Winsor joined the STAC team as a clinical research coordinator.  She is furthering skills in regulatory affairs, contract negotiation, study start up and all aspects of clinical trial management.  Currently she is involved with trials in hepatology/gastroenterology, interventional radiology, hematology, nephrology and provides support for other trials within the Department of Surgery at UVa.
