As an Administrator it is important to develop a network of contacts within the UVa Health System. Networks will provide support in helping to resolve common issues across departments.
Places you can start:
Attend monthly SOM/HSF meetings: All administrators convene once monthly at the SOM/HSF Joint Meeting. This meeting is usually on the first Friday of the month from 9-11am in the McKim Hall Auditorium (1st Floor). All departments are invited to the meeting. The second hour focuses on HSF/clinical issues (HSF interfaces with clinical departments only).
Attend administrator meetings: Basic Science/Research Center Administrators meet once per month. Contact Sharon Heyka ( srh5g@virginia.edu ) for details. Clinical Administrators also meet once a month. Contact Clark Nesbit (csn2h@Virginia.EDU) or Bess Wildman (eaw9u@Virginia.EDU) for details.
Meet peer administrators: Contact lists on the right will provide you with information about the leadership in peer departments.
Meet others within the HS: As you learn how you will need to interact with individuals from other entities in the Health System (HSF, SOM, Med Center), we encourage you to establish contacts.
