Research Description
Dr. Cirle Alcantara Warren is an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health at UVa. She is the medical director of the STD clinic at the Charlottesville/Albermarle Health Department.. She is also actively involved in mentoring international research fellows at UVa's Center for Global Health.
Training
Dr. Alcantara graduated from the University of the Philippines and the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center. She was trained in internal medicine at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven, Connecticut. She received training in infectious diseases at Uva-affiliated hospitals, including Roanoke Memorial Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Her training in geographic medicine and international health was completed at UVa's School Of Medicine.
Research Interests
Dr. Alcantara's research is focused on the recognition, pathogenesis, impact, and control of enteric infections. She is also interested in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of inflammatory genital infections.
