Introduction
The students of the University of Virginia School of Medicine, in collaboration with the Office for Research and the Medical Center Hour, invite interested students, faculty, and community members to attend this year’s symposium.
Fall symposia showcase research by medical students, through lectures and and poster presentations. The goals of this symposium are: to present and discuss work among peers; to inform medical students about the research opportunities at the University of Virginia School of Medicine; and to provide a medium for faculty, students, and members of the general community to interact informally and discuss future or current research projects.
All medical students, including MD/PhD students, are invited to present a poster, give a lecture, or attend the symposium. Faculty members and research mentors are encouraged to attend and participate in this special event.
A judging committee, comprised of faculty, students and fellows, will select 3 students to be granted travel awards to scientific meetings for best poster presentations. Please contact Kathe Morrison regarding judging criteria and other poster competition questions.
If you wish to participate in the organizing committee for the 2007 symposium, please contact the Office for Research.

Deadlines for submission of abstracts will be posted here in the late summer.
Preparation of posters: guidelines can be found here. See also the AAMC Web site on preparing posters using PowerPoint.
If you have any questions regarding poster rules or judging criteria, please contact Dr. Steven Wasserman. We look forward to seeing your presentation in October!
