- JANUARY 2009: NIH advice for "new" investigators. NIH reminds investigators who received their terminal degree or completed their residency within 10 years and who have not previously received a substantial NIH research grant may be able for special consideration as new investigators for an R01 application. Additional information is given at the NIH site on new and early stage investigators.
- NOVEMBER 2008: New NIH policy on resubmission (amended) applications. Effective January 25, 2009, new applications (i.e., never submitted) and competing renewal applications will be allowed only one amendment to the original application. Failure to receive funding after the original and the single amendment will require that the applicant substantially re-design the project before re-submission. Proposals that were submitted prior to 1/25/09 (original or first amendment) will be allowed up to two amendments. Click here for the NIH announcement.
