What Are Clinical Trials?

Clinical trials are research studies that involve people. They are the final step in a long process that begins with research in a lab. By evaluating the results of clinical trials, we can find better treatments and ways to prevent, detect, and treat cancer.  Many standard treatments used today are the result of past clinical trials.

Radiation Oncology Clinical Trials

The research team in the UVA Department of Radiation Oncology includes physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, nurses and a clinical research coordinator.

It is the clinical research coordinator's responsibility to ensure patient safety for all subjects who participate in our trials, Federal regulatory compliance and adherence to standards of good clinical practice.

The Radiation Oncology Clinical Research Coordinator is Katie L.
