| The Department of Radiology at the University of Virginia is pleased to welcome Dr. Michael D. Dake, M.D., as its 5th chair. Dr. Dake will take over the chair duties from Dr. William E. Brant M.D in January 2005. Dr. Dake comes to UVa from Stanford University, where he was Associate Professor of Radiology and Medicine and Chief of Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology. Michael Dake was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana and attended Harvard College. He then went to medical school at Baylor College in Houston, Texas, where he completed a medicine residency and was chief resident. He then went to the University of California, San Francisco to complete a fellowship in pulmonary medicine. He stayed at UCSF to complete a radiology residency, where he was chief resident, and to do a fellowship in interventional radiology. Dr. Michael Dake then went to the Miami Vascular Institute before settling at Stanford University. Dr. Michael Dake has numerous accomplishments at Stanford, including 300 journal publications and 70 book chapters. He holds several editorial positions, numerous advisory boards and is the recipient of 14 patents. Dr. Dake is a world leader in endoluminal management of aortic disease. The University of Virginia Department of Radiology is looking forward to Dr. Michael Dake’s tenure. |
