BEST NURSE LEADER 2005
Annette Z. Silver, BSN, RN CMSRN, Clinician IV was nominated and chosen as the winner of the 2005 ADVANCE for Nurses Best Nurse Leader. Silver, a nurse leader in the Angio/Interventional Radiology Department, blends bedside nursing and nurse management; she works with 13.5 full-time nurses and 5 radiology clinical associates and say’s “this is the best job she’s ever had”. That love of her job inspired her staff member, Caroline McDaniel , RN, to submit the winning essay on Silver. “Annette ’s love of her profession carries over to the staff she leads. She is truly interested in each individual and creates a warm, congenial work environment,” she wrote in her nomination essay.
“I have been in leadership roles for 20 of my 26 years in nursing,” Silver told ADVANCE. “I enjoyed nursing and would do it again in a minute; the nurses and assistants I’m working with are superb. The job offers the challenges and opportunities to further develop my clinical, leadership and management skills.”
As winner of the 2005 ADVANCE for Nurses Best Nurse Leader Award, Annette was presented with an engraved plaque, received gifts including a special nursing blanket, will be treated to dinner for four at her favorite restaurant and will hold a seat on the ADVANCE for Nurses Regional Advisory Board as a n honorary member for 1 year.
