Mammography SitesThe Breast Care Center (BCC) is a beautiful new facility that opened it's door in July 2003. Located in hosptial West at the University Hospital, this state-of-the art facility boast the most technologically advanced mammography imaging equipment on the market today. The BCC is the Universities principal diagnostic center for evaluation of digital and analog mammograms for the evaluation of women with symptoms or abnormal mammograms. The types of studies performed include dignostic mammography, breast ultrasound, needle biopsy, ultrasound guided, stereotactic guided and vacuum assisted. Surgical consultations are also provided by our team of breast care surgeons. Other procedures include screening during limited hours, galactography, cyst aspiration, and wire localization. Mammography Center at Orange, is located in a wonderful facility offering an alternative mammography site to women in the Piedmont area. The center occupies 200 square feet and contains one mammography machine. Screening examinations are performed at this site and are sent to the UVA Breast Care Center daily for an interpretation. Mobile Mammography - Coordinated through the Cancer Center, the University of Virginia also has a mobile mammography van that can perform screening mammograms at worksites and community locations.
