Breast Imaging

Division Services

The Division of Breast Imaging is responsible for diagnostic, screening and interventional procedures related to breast imaging. These procedures include: clinical consultation, screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, sonographically guided interventional procedures, needle localization, galactography and stereotactically guided core biopsy.  Digital and anaolg mammography are also available.  The division performs approximately 17,000 mammograms, 2500 breast ultrasounds, and 800 interventional breast procedures per year between three sites.

Coordinated through the Cancer Center, the University of Virginia also has a mobile mammography van that can perform screening mammograms at worksites and community locations.   To learn more information about this program or to see if your worksite is eligible for this service, please click on the above link.
