Legs for Life 2008
On Thursday, September 4, 2008, Interventional Radiology and the Heart and Vascular Center sponsored a FREE peripheral artery disease (PAD) screening, known as "Legs for Life" for the public.
The screening was open to people over 50 years of age who had either unexplained leg or foot pain or who wanted to know about vascular disease. It was a well received event with maximum enrollment and 126 patients examined. Of the people screened, 53 needed follow-up with their physician or further testing.
The event was organized by the tireless efforts of our IR nurses Trish Cady and Debby Berry, our IR coordinator Pat Wyland and Karen Barden, the Department's marketing liaison. The event was made possible by strong volunteer efforts of faculty, staff, housestaff, and medical students from IR, heart center and other units throughout the hospital.
If you see any of our now tired looking volunteers, be sure to tell them thanks for their hard work!
