Fellowships in Noninvasive CardioVascular Imaging
We will not be accepting fellowship applications until further notice.
| The Division on Noninvasive Cardiovascular Imaging at the University of Virginia Health System is recruiting for a one year fellowship position in noninvasive cardiovascular imaging starting July 2008. The Division currently has four attending physicians dedicated to cardiovascular MRI and CT. Annually more than 6000 examinations are being performed covering the full spectrum of vascular and cardiac disease. Performed exams include CTA and MRA of all vascular territories including whole body MRA and CTA. There is also a large abdominal and thoracic aortic stent graft program at the University of Virginia allowing in depth training in all imaging aspects pertinent to this technology. All cardiac techniques including stress and perfusion cardiac MR, complex congenital cardiac MR, and coronary CTA are performed. A dedicated cardiovascular curriculum consisting of didactic lectures, journal club, case conferences and self-directed learning is in place. The Division participates in multidisciplinary conferences and lectures with the Divisions of Adult and Pediatric Cardiology and Vascular Surgery. The Division utilizes state of the art equipment from multiple vendors including a 3T MR scanner, 5 high-end 1.5T MR scanners, one dual-source multidetector CT, one 64 channel and five 16 channel CT scanners. There are also three 1.5T and one 3T MR scanners as well as a dual source CT scanner entirely dedicated to research and the Division members together with other researchers from Radiology, Cardiology, and Biomedical Engineering are actively pursuing a number of research projects. An Advanced Visualization Laboratory is also part of the Division and is staffed by a full time 3D technologist. All major post processing workstations are available. The successful applicant will perform and actively supervise complex cardiac MRI and coronary CT examinations, become proficient in post-processing of imaging data, and become proficient in interpretation as well as technical troubleshooting of all cardiovascular examinations. Participation in research projects is expected. At completion of the fellowship, the applicant will obtain AHA/ACC Level 3 certification for both cardiac CT and cardiac MR as well as meet recommendations for training outlined by the ACR. The successful applicant will be ABR certified or eligible or have equivalent qualification. |
