Total Knee Replacement
Number of procedures per surgeon
A study of 80,904 Medicare patients noted that patients who had a primary (first-time) total knee replacement done by surgeons who performed more than 50 procedures (primary and revision total knee replacement procedures) annually had a lower risk of pneumonia, deep wound infections and medical complications compared to surgeons with an annual volume of 12 procedures or fewer.
