The University of Virginia is seeking an experienced and nationally recognized M.D. or Ph.D. to be the Vice-Chair of Research. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the development of a thriving Department of Psychiatric Medicine.  This position will be overseeing all phases of departmental research activities. The suitable individual will have knowledge of multidisciplinary and cross-departmental collaborations from basic and translational to clinical sciences.  They must have independent research funding with a national reputation.  Faculty level appointment will be commensurate upon training and experience up to the rank of full professor. FACULTY-LEVEL BASIC SCIENCE RESEARCH SCIENTISTS

The Department of Psychiatric Medicine at the University of Virginia is seeking five nationally recognized basic science research scientists (M.D. or Ph.D.’s) to be part of a new and exciting group involved with medications development and related sciences within the Division of Alcohol and Drug Addiction. Target areas of interest include behavioral pharmacology, molecular genetics, signal transduction, and the development of transgenic animals. The laboratory facilities are outstanding and include an opportunity to suitably configure state of the art facilities. An excellent start-up package will be offered to successful applicants. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong track record of extramural funding and experience with educational programs. Faculty level appointment will be commensurate upon training and experience, and may include appointment at the full professor level. Successful applicants also will be expected to hold equivalent level secondary appointments within the Department of Neuroscience. Faculty Level Neuroimager

The University of Virginia Department of Psychiatric Medicine is seeking a nationally or internationally recognized expert in neuroimaging to form part of a core of neuroscientists dedicated to developing an innovative and scientifically dynamic program in neuropsychiatry. Applicants will be expected to have a doctoral degree in medicine, science, or both, and/or a related specialty. Expertise can be in any specialist field in psychiatry.  Preference will be given to individuals with a strong record of extramural funding and innovative research; individuals with an interest in real-time imaging behavior, as well as molecular imaging. Faculty Level Biomathematics Position


The Department of Psychiatric Medicine at the University of Virginia is seeking a nationally recognized biomathematics scientist (Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Biomathematics, Systems Engineering, or a related field) to be part of a new and exciting group involved with medications development within the Division of Alcohol and Drug Addiction. Target areas of interest include systems biology and network modeling approaches to the interpretation of molecular genetics, signal transduction, animal, and human behavior data.  Database experience is required. Strong preference will be given to applicants with a track record of independent funding. Ability to communicate with biomedical researchers and demonstrated skill to translate biomedical problems into a formal mathematical framework will be essential for the successful applicant.  Faculty level appointment will be commensurate upon training and experience.
