Dr. Kovatchev Collaborates on International Diabetes Initiative

Dr. Claudio Cabelli is a aworld leader in physiological modeling on insulin-glocose dynamics. This November he visited the University of Virginia and presented a talk on measurement of insulin sensitivity and beta-cell function. With funding from NIH and Abbott Diabetes Care, Dr. Kovatchev will join Dr. Cobelli's team at the University of Padova (Padua), Italy, in a collaborative international research effort to study diabetes.

The University of Padova (Padua) is one of the oldest in the world, founded in 1222. It is home to the setting of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew and professors and students from Copernicus to Galileo. Drs. Kovatchev and Cobelli will focus on areas of diabetes research related to insulin-glucose dynamics in T1DM and continuous glucose monitoring.
