Neurobiological Studies is a division of the University of Virginia Psychiatric Medicine Department focused on the research and treatment Addiction. With seven sections, it is the largest division in Psychiatric Medicine and the newest. Each diverse group brings a special contribution to the field of Addiction. Located at the brand new North Fork Research Park, Neurobiological Studies boasts state of the art technology for both clinical and research aspects of addiction research. A staff of 25, including world renown addiction specialists ( Dr. Bankole Johnson and Dr. Nassima Ait-Daoud ( Alcohol), Dr. Ming Li (Genetics),) a team of 4 psychologists specializing in addiction treatment, behavioral pharmacologists, a pioneer in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for addiction (Dr. J. Kim Penberthy), one of the top clinical coordinators in the field of addiction ( Eva Jenkins-Mendoza), an experienced team of Nurse Practitioners and research specialists, a world class genetic research faculty and an amazing administrative staff.
