The UVAHS Professional Nursing Staff Organization

ABOUT THE MAGNET JOURNEY

UVAHS Proud to Receive
Magnet Recognition Designation!

The PNSO submitted Magnet Documentation to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) on March 30, 2006. The Documentation celebrates the excellence of our nurses and their practice. Innumerable outcomes and accomplishments featured in the 1,918 pages of evidence earned the second phase of evaluation for this prestigious award, an on-site review.

Four Magnet Appraisers, senior nurse leaders from across the country, spent four days, June 20 to June 23, verifying, clarifying, and amplifying the Documentation. This presented a unique opportunity for nurses from every practice setting to interact with the Appraisers. Their interactions included formal interviews, round-table discussions and practice area visits. Nurses shared their examples of nursing excellence and proudly displayed their Hallmarks of Excellence.

Our Magnet journey has presented the PNSO and UVAHS with a wonderful opportunity to reflect and celebrate our many examples of excellence and to challenge one another to continually improve our practice and our work environment.

Thank you to all who contributed to the success of the Documentation preparation and publication and the Site Visit.
