The UVAHS Professional Nursing Staff Organization

Clinical Practice Committee and Subcommittees

Article II, Section 2 of the PNSO Bylaws describes Clinical Practice as one of the core missions of the PNSO:

Clinical Practice - The PNSO shall promote excellence in nursing practice by establishing, upholding and advancing clinical practice in all clinical settings.

Article IX, Section 1 of the Bylaws convenes the Clinical Practice Committee as a standing committee of the PNSO to address this mission on an ongoing basis.

The Clinical Practice Committee, in turn, oversees several subcommittees which focus on specific aspects of nursing practice. Each of these bodies stays in close contact with both the Nursing Cabinet and practice areas' Local Practice Chairs, assuring communication and shared decision-making on proposed improvements in patient care affecting nursing. The Practice Committee also works closely with liaisons to interdisciplinary practice committees, such as the Sharps Injury Prevention Committee, Equipment Management Committee, New Equipment/Supply Request Review Committee. The Chair of CPC represents Nursing on the hospital-wide Patient Care Committee.

Contact the Chair if you would like to visit a meeting of the below committees.
