ROLE BEHAVIORS

The Nursing Clinical Career Ladder outlines the specific behaviors expected at each professional nursing clinical level. Nurses wishing to advance to a particular level must submit a portfolio which provides evidence showing that he/she already consistently demonstrates the behaviors of that higher-level role in his/her current practice. After advancement takes place, during each annual evaluation, the nurse's continued practice at that behavioral level is validated.

The following categories of behaviors are defined for each role, and must be demonstrated in practice:

  • Overall Summary
  • Clinical Behaviors
  • Leadership; Teamwork; Collaboration
  • Communication
  • Problemsolving
  • Knowledge Development and Professional Behaviors
  • Scholarly Activities
