All Week Events

Roving carts staffed by the Week of the Nurse Committee, Nurse Managers and Senior Leadership will be out and about bringing the fun to you! Look for the
Mighty Magnet Mobiles in your area. This year's exciting themes will make you laugh and learn a little. You'll definitely win a prize! 

Enter the 3rd Annual Nursing Spirit Contest and show off the talents of your colleagues and your area. Categories include: Most Inspirational, Best Creativity, and Greatest Team Spirit and NEW for this year, Best Long-Distance Spirit. Click here to register your team. After May 6, click here to see how your colleagues are celebrating Week of the Nurse in their areas!

Spirit Links

Another way to have fun it is to make a Spirit Chain! Pick up a Spirit Link from your Manager and put them together! Did you know that the record for the world's longest paper chain was set on June 4 to 5, 2005 at Paul. D Camp Community College in Franklin, Virginia stretching 54.33 miles?
Make a chain on your unit, decorate with it for fun. We will pick up Spirit Links on May 9 & 10 from inpatient and close-in outpatient settings. Come to the Hospital Employee Appreciation Event on May 12 to see the connected chain celebrating our teamwork. Spirit Links will be handed out until they are all gone. Let us know early if you need more! Email PNSO@virginia.edu with any questions.

Going Green:

Magnet Nurse Champions are working to support the recycling program that brings back dollars to help with RAM and MERCI. Reduce your impact on the environment by recycling ink cartridges, cell phones & electronics. Talk to your Magnet Champion or email PNSO@virginia.edu for more information.

Scheduled Events

The 7th Annual It Takes a Team Award will be presented to the Interpreters and Language Assistance Services Staff, in appreciation of their collaboration with nurses. The tradition of this award comes from nurses starting celebrations of Week of the Nurse with a heartfelt thank you. Come and show your support on May 6, 0930-1000 in room 8410.

Pizza Delivery:

The PNSO appreciates the contributions of our late-shift weekend staff! Nurses are invited to enjoy pizza delivered to their local nursing lounges by PNSO leaders on May 10, 2200!

Hospital Week Cookout Event

Head out to the University Hospital loading dock for for free food and a preview of the new communications campaign. Join us May 12 ,1100-1400 or 1700-2100.

Special Invitation Events

All nurses are invited to attend the Relaxation and Hydration Event on May 8, 0600-1000 & 1600-2000, in the Dining Conference Rooms.  Check your email for a personal invitation!

All nurse managers and administrators are invited to an appreciation luncheon on May 7, 1200-1300, at the outside tables between McKim Hall and West Complex. Rain location is room 1006 in the School of Nursing.
