Neurocognitive Assessment |
|
The neuropsychological examination consists of behavioral tests sensitive to specific features of brain function. Testing includes assessment of each lobe of the brain as well as the overall integrity of brain functioning. The areas of cognitive functioning that are typically assessed include memory, attention/concentration, problem solving ability, general language functioning, sensory-perceptual functioning, visual-spatial functioning, and general cognition, or thinking and reasoning. Since many neurologic disorders may affect mood and the emotions, psychologic testing is sometimes undertaken as well.
