University of Virginia Hand Fellowship

This one-year fellowship in hand surgery provides a balanced teaching, research and clinical experience. Board eligibility in plastic, orthopedic, or general surgery is required. An excellent microsurgery laboratory is available for training and research projects. Responsibilities include patient evaluation, treatment plan development, acute and reconstructive surgery, and postoperative care. A wide spectrum of clinical problems are treated and include congenital anomalies, rheumatoid arthritis, sports injuries, acute trauma, post-trauma reconstruction, and microsurgery. Original research is encouraged and supported. Full-time research staff members will assist the fellow in the research projects. The fellow instructs medical students and residents and is responsible for hand conferences. All activities are conducted at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center.
Applicants must submit:

- An original medical school transcript
- An original dean's letter specifying date of graduation
- A copy of your curriculum vita
- Three letters of recommendation: One letter must contain a health statement giving the condition of your mental and physical health to the best of the writer's knowledge, and one letter must be provided by the program director at your most recent institution
