Lectureships

Edlich Lectureship in Wound Healing & Burn Care

Every spring or summer since 1991, a scholar whose work has been instrumental in advancing the state of wound healing and burn care is invited to the University of Virginia to discuss his research with, and act as a resource for, plastic surgical residents. In addition, the invited scholar lectures at a special Saturday morning conference before members of the entire medical center. Our 1998 Lecturer was Donald H. Beezhold, Ph.D., senior scientist at the Guthrie Research Institute, who shared with us his research concerning the latex allergy epidemic stemming from the use of powdered latex surgical and examination gloves.

Claude C. Coleman, Jr. and Sr. Lectureship in Craniofacial Surgery

Each year since 1992, a renowned craniofacial surgeon is invited to the University of Virginia to present both a one-hour lecture to the Department of Plastic Surgery highlighting new advances in craniofacial surgery, and the Claude Coleman lecture to the medical school faculty.

Thomas Jefferson Visiting Professor

Several times during the past decade, distinguished medical doctors have been invited to visit the University of Virginia.
