Wound Healing Lab Services

In addition to conducting research, and educating students and professionals, our Wound Healing Laboratory has also been instrumental in developing three service areas of our Department: the Burn Support Laboratory, the Chronic Wound Care Clinic (CWCC), and the Hyperbaric Oxygen Service (HBO).

We provide support to the Burn Center by preparing topical antimicrobial cream.

As an extension of our research interest in chronic wounds, our laboratory was very involved in the initiation of the CWCC and remains an active partner today, collaborating with the CWCC on clinical research projects, supporting the CWCC with antimicrobial cream and bacterial quantitation, and maintaining a database that allows the tracking of wound healing progression. Because HBO is an important adjunctive treatment for chronic wounds, our laboratory also played an important role in developing the HBO service and research protocols that will help us to optimize the benefit of HBO therapy. Go to our HBO site by clicking here.
