When to Refer

Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Without Heart-Lung Bypass

A coronary artery bypass graft without the use of a heart-lung bypass machine can be considered for patients:

  • With severe aortic calcification
  • With poorly functioning kidneys
  • With poorly functioning hearts
  • Taking the blood thinner Clopidogrel

Surgical AF Ablation

Those most likely to benefit from a surgical atrial fibrillation ablation include patients who:

  • Have failed a catheter ablation
  • Have large atriums
  • Need another cardiac or thoracic surgical procedure with their ablation
  • Are unable to tolerate Warfarin

Epicardial VT Ablation

The primary beneficiaries of epicardial VT ablations include patients with refractory VT:

  • Who failed drug therapy
  • Who failed an endocardial ablation
