The right side of the brain of an 8-year-old boy is mapped with stereotactically guided electrodes. White dots indicate electrodes; yellow dots show electrodes where seizures arise on their own; blue dots show areas of the brain where hand motor function is controlled; red dots show areas of the brain involved with hand sensation; light blue dots are a border area between hand motor and hand sensation; green rectangles show where small seizures were created when cortical mapping was done. The red outline indicates the area identified for surgical removal. |
