The MedicineTeam

Physical therapists on the Medicine Service Center treat a wide variety of patients with very complex needs.

Common diagnoses treated on the Medicine Service Center include pulmonary disease and respiratory failure, cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, dementia, and multiple types of cancer.  These patients are seen on seven different units each suited to best serve their individual needs.

Specifically, the medical intensive care unit (MICU) manages the severe respiratory, metabolic, and medical disarray of critically ill patients.

Patients on the two general medicine floors typically have complications related to multiple comorbidities.

Palliative care offers patient comfort care in private rooms for patients and families as they cope with making end of life decisions.

The adult bone marrow transplant unit (ABMTU) is specifically designed to protect patients with severely compromised immunity as a result of preparation, and post operative recovery of bone marrow transplantation.  The adjoining oncology unit treats patients with multiple types of cancer.

Finally, the new geriatric floor is equipped to manage the dynamic needs of the aging population.

The Medicine Service Center offers physical therapists the ability to service a wide variety of patients.  From the MICU, to palliative care, to geriatric medicine, physical therapists on the Medicine Service Center have the flexibility to manage the complicated needs of diverse patient populations.
