Bernheim leads Richmond conference on "Advancing Health Equity"

Ruth Gaare Bernheim, JD, MPH, Director, Division of Public Health Policy and Practice, is leading a two-day conference September 10-11, 2009 in Richmond on “Advancing Health Equity: From Theory to Practice”. This conference that includes nationally renowned speakers such as Howard Frumkin, MD, MPH, DrPH , Director, National Center for Environmental Health, CDC, is over subscribed with more than 350 registrants. This meeting addresses the latest evidence of the impact of inequities in the physical, social, and environmental environment of health and discusses promising models and tools for effective action. Also participating from the Department of Public Health Sciences and the University of Virginia is Nisha Botchwey, PhD, Associate Professor of Urban and Environmental Planning and Public Health Sciences and David Cantrell-Gordon, MDiv, MSW.
