Reynolds Retires; Knaus Acting Director of Biostatistics & Epidemiology
DPHS Chair William A. Knaus, M.D., assumed responsibility as acting Director of the department's Division of Biostatistics & Epidemiology on August 1st, taking over from current acting Director Robert E. Reynolds, M.D., D.PH."I want to formally thank Bob Reynolds for his wonderful and unselfish dedication to the department both as temporary Division Director but also for stepping in for me as Chair during my past temporary assignment," Knaus wrote in announcing the change in leadership and Reynold's retirement. "As Bob begins his formal retirement from UVA and his new status as an Emeritus Professor, I want to acknowledge what an extraordinary member of the UVA family Bob has been over the past decades.
"In one of his many pre-retirement ceremonies John Casteen said that he knew of no one else who has held so many different distinguished positions at this University," Knaus wrote. "We were very fortunate to have him with us for these past two years. I know everyone joins me in offering our sincere thanks and respect and very best wishes to Bob in his well deserved retirement."
