Garson and Engelhard Prepare Briefing Paper for National Health Care Debate

UVa Provost Tim Garson and Health Policy Analyst Carolyn Engelhard have prepared a "white paper" analyzing whether there is a right to universal health care as part of a national debate series sponsored by The Miller Center of Public Affairs.

On April 9, 2008, the Miller Centers' National Discussion and Debate Series will sponsor the debate at Boston's historic Faneuil Hall, during which four participants will examine the proposed resolution: "Health care is a fundamental right; the government has an obligation to secure this right for all Americans." Susan Dentzer, Health Correspondent for PBS's NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, will moderate the debate.

Garson and Engelhard presented their brief during a recent forum at the Miller Center (click here for video/audio of the presentation).
