Certificates of Special Competencies for Residents
The Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS) and the Office of Graduate Medical Education have created the Certificates of Special Competencies for Residents. Certificates are awarded for four Graduate School of Arts & Sciences courses in a track. Two tracks currently are offered: Public Health/Health Policy and Clinical Research.
The newly established certificate program is supported by the Health Sciences Center administration and gives residents and fellows the opportunity to attend intense two-week courses on topics such as epidemiology and biostatistics taught by DPHS faculty. These courses meet new residency training program requirements, and the academic credits earned can later be applied to the two degree programs offered by the department: Master of Public Health and Master of Science in Clinical Research.
