BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF PGY1 PHARMACY RESIDENTS

Helen Choi, Pharm.D.

Dr. Choi is a graduate of University of Florida College of Pharmacy, where she earned her Pharm.D. Degree in 2005. Her current areas of interest include infectious diseases, internal medicine, and critical care. Dr. Choi’s residency project will evaluate changes in blood loss following implementation of aprotinin versus aminocaproic acid in cardiac surgery patients. Upon completion of the Pharmacy Practice residency, she plans to pursue a specialized residency or a clinical pharmacist position within a tertiary care hospital.

 

Lori Nam, Pharm.D.

Dr. Nam is a graduate of University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in Baltimore , Maryland and the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business, where she earned her Pharm.D. and MBA degrees in May 2005. Her current areas of interest include internal medicine, infectious diseases, and ambulatory care.  Dr. Nam ’s residency project will evaluate the perioperative use of intravenous metoprolol in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery.  Upon completion of the residency program, she plans to complete a specialized residency or pursue a career as a clinical pharmacist.

 

Todd Reeder, Pharm.D.

Dr. Reeder is a graduate of Midwestern University-Glendale, Arizona , where he earned his Pharm.D. in 2005.  Dr. Reeder has Bachelors’ in Biology and Nursing.  He previously worked as a Registered Nurse for several years before returning to earn his Doctor of Pharmacy.  Dr. Reeder is also currently serving as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve.  The residency project that Dr. Reeder is involved in will be evaluating pharmacist obtained medication histories versus traditional methods and the effects on unintended medication discrepancies.  Areas of interest include drug information, pediatrics, and infectious diseases.  Upon completion of Pharmacy Practice Residency, Dr. Reeder will continue on for an additional year to complete a Drug Information Residency.

 

Chrissie Shirley , Pharm.D.

Dr. Shirley is a graduate of the University Of Georgia College Of Pharmacy , where she earned her Pharm.D. Degree in May 2005.  Her current areas of interest include infectious diseases and internal medicine. Dr. Shirley’s residency project will evaluate the clinical and financial outcomes associated with the implementation of the decentralized clinical practice model.  Upon completion of the Pharmacy Practice Residency, she plans to complete a specialized residency or pursue a career as a clinical pharmacist.

 

Bethany Strickland , Pharm.D.

Dr. Strickland is a graduate of the University of Georgia , where she earned her Pharm.D. Degree in May 2005. Her current interests lie within hematology/oncology, critical care, and infectious diseases. Dr. Strickland’s residency project will evaluate the conversion of epoetin to darbepoetin in dialysis dependent outpatients. Upon completion of the pharmacy practice residency, she plans to pursue a specialized residency or a clinical pharmacist position within a tertiary care hospital setting.
