Welcome to the University of Virginia Operating Room


You will be greeted by the friendly faces of those dedicated to providing you with excellent care.

   

Let us guide you through a few photos of how your experience here could be. If you have already visited the Perioperative Services areas PETC and SAS your next stop will be the Operating Room.

   

 Anesthesiolosists, Surgeons and OR Nurses will meet you and after initial interview and discussion about you and your care you will be transported to the OR Room in which your surgery will take place.

   

Upon arrival to your OR room you will be made comfortable and the team of Doctors, Nurses and Patient Care Technicians will prepare you for your procedure. Here in the OR we use the latest high tech equipment to help care for you.

   

The type surgical procedure you are scheduled for dictates the amount equipment required to care for you.

   

When your surgery is completed and you begin to recover from anesthesia, you will be transported to the PACU (Recovery Room) and a staff of highly skilled critical care nurses will continue with your care. In some cases you may go directly back to the SAS for discharge teaching and planning.
