Perioperative Surgical Services provide comprehensive care to the family of patients, and to the patients who require surgery and procedures.The Perioperative Surgical Services area encompasses four nursing units:
- Preanesthesia Evaluation & Testing Center (PETC): insures patient preparation by providing patient education, preoperative labwork and testing plus any completion of activities needed for surgery/procedures.
- Surgical Admission Suite (SAS): contacts patient prior to surgery, prepares patient on surgery day and discharges those not staying after surgery.
- Operating Room: confirms and assesses previosly gathered patient information and safely transfers the patient to proper area postoperatively.
- Surgical Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU): safely recovers the patient postoperatively, providing for any needed pain relief and other needs prior to transfer to the appropriate hospital unit.
