CLINIC ROTATIONS AND ER CALL |
|
The objective of the clinic rotations are to provide students with an approach to the evaluation and management of ambulatory peds patients, including those who are acutely ill, have chronic diseases or special peds problems. Students are assigned to one of seven clinic rotations for the 2 week period. Each clinic rotation will allow a full day to complete your required CLIPP cases . In order to maximize the experience that can be gained from the clinic rotations, it is important for students to let the physicians in charge of the assigned clinics know how they can be contacted during non-clinic hours. This will be accomplished best by contacting the secretary for each clinic. Some of these clinics are away from the University or Charlottesville ; you will need a car or a ride. If this presents a problem for you, please contact the Peds Education Office. Below are links to the description of each clinic rotation. A contact person along with their phone number is referenced for each clinic. Read this carefully prior to beginning the clinics. Not all times are clinic times and it is not unusual that clinic patients & hospitalized patients are seen/discussed during non-clinic hours.
AMBULATORY NIGHT CALL IN THE PEDIATRIC EM ROOM During NBN, Subspecialty Clinics, and KCRC, students will practice night call in the Peds ER. On weekdays, night call begins at 5:30 PM in hospital east and ends at 11 PM . A faculty attending will review all patients seen with the student until 8 PM , at that time the resident will continue to work with the student. On Saturday, assigned students will take call from 10 AM to 11 PM. Students will not work in the ER on Thursday or Sunday. See your Peds Handout to find out what nights you are assigned.
