ATTENDANCE POLICY

Students are expected to be present for assigned clinical duties. Students in Charlottesville are expected to attend the lectures, which are held in the Pediatric Conference Room #3906, located on the 3rd floor of the Old Medical School building, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 (NOON) until 1 PM. Email reminders with changes or cancellations will be sent out weekly. On days when there are no scheduled lectures, students are invited to attend the noon lectures given for the pediatric house staff.

Attendance at Pediatric Grand Rounds is also expected; Pediatric Grand Rounds are held every Thursday in the Camp Heart Auditorium 8AM-9AM (not during July and August).

All students are required to attend the Pediatric Clinical Skills Workshops. Each workshop will teach discreet skills that are important for your pediatric clinical knowledge. This is a hands-on opportunity offered to you during your rotation.

ILLNESSES AND ABSENCES

Students who are ill during the clerkship should notify the resident or attending with whom they are working on that day or rotation.  Absences for other reasons must be cleared with the Pediatric Education Office.  Prolonged absences (more than 3 days) may need to be approved by the Student Affairs Office.  Students who are away from the clerkship for an excessive period of time may need to make up the time missed before they can receive a final clerkship grade
