We provide services for children with intestinal, liver, and nutritional disorders including but not limited to:

  • Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis
  • acute and chronic hepatitis, jaundice, metabolic liver disease
  • short bowel syndrome, chronic diarrhea
  • chronic and/or recurrent abdominal pain
  • malnutrition, growth failure
  • gastroesophageal reflux, recurrent vomiting
  • irritable bowel syndrome
  • chronic constipation, encopresis
  • intestinal bleeding, ulcer disease
  • swallowing disorders

We regularly perform upper and lower endoscopic procedures including gastrostomy placement and polypectomy.

Current Research Projects are examining:

  • causes and treatment of childhood constipation and encopresis (involuntary fecal soiling)

  • use of the Internet in managing encopresis

  • epidemiology and etiology of inflammatory bowel diseases in children

  • use of information systems and information technology to promote clinical care, patient safety, and professional and consumer education
